Hi! I'm Ms. Pires!
Hello, I am Mariana Pires. Originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, I arrived in the United States as an immigrant at the age of 20, continuing my family's history of seeking new opportunities ashore, which dates back to their European migration in the early 1900s. I have always possessed an innate curiosity about different cultures and a profound appreciation for understanding others’ perspectives on life. At heart, I'm a lifelong learner who deeply values academia. Early on, I discovered my passion for pedagogy and for teaching the values of tolerance, which became a driving force for becoming an elementary educator. While working full-time, I diligently pursued my college education, multiple subject credential program, and eventually, a Masters program in California, United States.

I have 15 years of experience as an Elementary School educator in California, including four years in Teaching Leadership roles as an Educational Technology Specialist and Instructional Coach. I have a deep passion for my career as an educator and teacher leader and I am always actively seeking and demonstrating outstanding practices. I strive to always act with excellent professionalism and attitude and to always show superior commitment to the teaching profession.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in my goal to create a tolerant and inclusive learning community for students and teachers. In the classroom, my learning community is built upon mutual respect, celebrating and accepting differences, and actively listening to cultivate empathy. I implement a behavior plan based on life skills, real life context, a growth mindset, and problem solving. My classroom management program is well thought out and researched, therefore all processes in my classroom are deliberate and not left to chance.

Once a safe learning environment is established, powerful academic learning can occur. My aim is to design lessons that engage, inspire, build autonomy, and nurture students' curiosity, while preparing them to be globally minded and ready for the challenges of an interconnected world. I hold my students to high academic expectations, and always trust they can achieve their goals with the necessary support and guidance.

Teaching is not just a profession for me; it is a calling and an integral part of my identity. I firmly believe in educating the "whole child". The children in our care should receive not only outstanding academic content, but also essential life skills and a global perspective necessary for success in the 21st century job market. My commitment to reaching and inspiring my students and learning community runs deep, and I am eager to embark on the next chapter of my teaching journey. As I look ahead to new challenges in my career, I am confident in finding an institution that shares my unwavering commitment and enthusiasm for the academic and social development of all students. I look forward to this new chapter in my teaching path!
